Brian Jonestown Massacre Moody and Magical at Ft. Collin’s Washingtons

The delicious mayhem that is the Brian Jonestown Massacre has been rolling its exuberant psych rock circus around America and Europe for over 30 years now but had never, until Friday night, made a stop in Ft. Collins. The Washington’s crowd found mercurial frontman Anton Newcombe expressing a wide range of feelings- from lovingly offering on-stage hugs and kisses to his bandmates, to cursing Ft. Collins for its public smoking ban. In between Anton’s feelings, fans found a set full of the BJM’s signature jingle-jangle wonderfulness, the dizzying lilt of 4 twelve-string guitars, and the irrepressible, rhythmic chill of rock music’s all-time coolest tambourine player, Mr. Joel Gion. Brian Jonestown Massacre plays Denver’s Ogden Theater on Monday night- you’ll definitely want to check them out live after you see these gorgeous photos from Audiovore‘s Michael McGrath.
